July 31 — August 5 2011 Huddersfield UK
Inclusive Improv present an UnConference running along side the 2011 International Computer Music Conference (ICMC).
If you're unsure what an unconf is, there's a very agreeable explanation here.
As an antidote to the broadcast medium of the conference/paper format, the Unconf sessions during the Monday and Tuesday afternoons are a chance for informal discussion. Topics are suggested, and voted, on by the Unconference attendees. This allows for fast moving participatory discussion on topics large and small.
Additionally, there will be two unconf gigs on the Sunday and Wednesday nights.
The Unconference is open to all and there is no fee or registration necessary for attendance. You do not need to be affiliated to an institution or even be overly academically inclined; if you are interested in discussing aspects of computer music, such as the technology, composition, insert words here, then just turn up!
If you'd like to present your ideas at the Unconf:
(Deadline July 30th) Suggest your topic idea (up to 300wds) anytime up to the day before the ICMC starts. To submit an idea, go here. The topics that get discussed on the day are decided by a vote, but to aid in programming the unconf this year anyone can express an interest in a topic ahead of time by just liking it. 1)
We're looking forward to a diverse group of people coming along to this; this is an open call to anyone who is interested in discussing computer music of all tribes and tastes, so pass it on through relevant channels…
